This quote (from an Ofsted report) shows such poor understanding of how young children learn. Children do not need their play to be planned for them by adults - and in fact, one of the key executive function skills they are practicing through play is planning their time. Making choices. Self-control rather than being controlled. Adults stifle that opportunity for learning when they step in and take over.

It is profoundly misguided to remove that from them in the name of making play more ‘productive’.
