"The forest was shrinking but the trees kept voting for the axe, for the axe was clever and convinced the trees that because his handle was made of wood he was one of them."
Turkish Proverb
I don't care in the slightest if boys want to put on make up, take ballet classes and call themselves 'Susan.' If that's what makes them happy, fabulous. I don't want them harmed in any way. However, wearing a tutu and calling yourself Susan doesn't make you a girl and it is regressive in the extreme to say that it does.
“I’m not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes because I know I’m not dumb… and I also know that I’m not blonde.” — Dolly Parton
Rest in Power to a woman who rose from abuse to empower girls through literacy.
Feminists come in all shapes & wear many heels.
Mike Tyson showed up in New York wearing a Ukrainian vyshyvanka.
The legendary boxer was raised by a Ukrainian woman from Ternopil who became like a mother to him.
Now he’s carrying that connection proudly.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library was the best contribution to child literacy ever made by a celebrity. Our paths crossed once, in the 90s, backstage at a talk show, and I was completely tongue-tied and starstruck. RIP Dolly. You were a complete, irreplaceable one-off.
The US Senate has just approved the bill on sanctions against Russia and Iran. This is an important step towards supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. I hope that this bill will be approved by the House of Representatives and signed into law by President Trump soon. Senator Lindsay Graham has made a major contribution to preparing and promoting this legislative act. He was a real friend of Ukraine. I had a privilege to meet him and have very inspiring conversations on many occasions.
Change is inevitable.
You thanked me for Mriya and Diia. In return, I thank you for giving me hope.
I’ve never felt a responsibility this great — not even while serving in government.
Thank you to our veterans and service members for holding the line and upholding our honor.
The dialogue is happening. I believe we will succeed.
Some mothers cross oceans for their children. Ukrainian mothers crossed occupied territory, russian checkpoints, threats, and fear.
Last week, their stories were brought to the stage of the National Opera of Ukraine during the premiere of Mothers of Kherson, created by Peter Gelb and @kerilynnwilson of the @MetOpera.
The opera is based on the real experiences of Ukrainian mothers whose children were taken by russia and sent to so-called “re-education” camps.
We are grateful to Peter Gelb, Keri-Lynn Wilson, and the entire Mothers of Kherson team for helping share these stories with audiences around the world. Through art, they are bringing attention to the experiences of Ukrainian families and the resilience of mothers who refused to give up on their children.
Because no child should be separated from their family, their home, and their country.
Watch the video and help more people hear their stories.
A UNESCO World Heritage site that has stood for over a thousand years. Last night, russia set it on fire.
Five people were killed in Kyiv. 35 injured — among them two children and a pregnant woman. Missiles and drones hit the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, Mystetskyi Arsenal, Dovzhenko Film Studios, residential buildings and infrastructure across the city.
This is not collateral damage. This is the point. russia does not target military infrastructure — it targets everything that makes Ukraine alive: its people, its culture, its history, its future.
Those who burn thousand-year-old monasteries and kill pregnant women are not looking for peace. They never were. Terrorists do not stop on their own. They are stopped.
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes who defend Ukraine every night and day!
Today Kyiv is in mourning after one of the most devastating attacks on July 2nd.
30 people killed, the number keeps rising. 92 wounded, including 4 children.
Residential buildings, businesses, energy infrastructure — the same targets, the same terrorism, the same russia.
We mourn because behind every number there is someone’s world that will never be the same.
Condolences do not stop missiles. And “peace at any cost” only costs more lives.
Ukraine needs more air defense — not after the next strike, but now. The world has the power to make this terror stop. The question is whether it has the will.
May the memory of every life lost endure. My deepest condolences to their families and loved ones.
True justice and lasting peace can only be secured when those responsible for these systemic violations of international law are held fully accountable through intensified global sanctions, complete diplomatic isolation, and decisive defensive reinforcement.
Glory to Ukraine!
Beautiful: Accountability of a highprofile corrupt cleptocrat in Moldova 🙌.This needs to happen in every country aspiring to join the EU: naming&shaming, and accountability at every level. Take note Ukraine and follow suit. RoL is a prerequisite for EU MS https://t.co/aht8fNkHpd
Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Andrii Melnyk:
Thirty-five million Russians have no toilet at home.
On the one hand, Russia demands recognition as a "great superpower," claiming the right to redraw state borders by force and impose a new sphere of influence.
Yet, on the other hand, around 35 million Russian citizens still rely on outside toilets — shabby wooden huts in yards and gardens.
Putin wants to convince American mediators and the broader international community that peace itself hinges on Ukraine’s voluntary surrender of the Donetsk region and that, once this demand is met, Russia will at last be happy and eternal peace will follow.
Does anyone seriously believe this fairy tale? We don’t.
What is the purpose of this relentless war of conquest when only about 1 percent of Russia’s vast territory is populated and developed, while the remaining 99 percent are largely neglected and, at best, partially exploited for natural resource extraction?
Moreover, during his 26-year rule, Putin has effectively abandoned his population, many of whom still struggle with the most basic standards of sanitation.
According to official statistical data, one-fourth of Russian households do not have access to centralized sewage systems or indoor sanitation facilities.
In rural areas, the situation is even more severe: in some regions, up to two-thirds of households must rely on outdoor pit latrines.
Let us imagine the scale of the absurdity we are dealing with.
On the one hand, Russia demands recognition as a "great superpower," claiming the right to redraw state borders by force and impose a new sphere of influence.
Yet, on the other hand, around 35 million Russian citizens still rely on outside toilets — shabby wooden huts in yards and gardens.
Let me repeat: thirty-five million Russians have no toilet at home.
This is roughly the population of Malaysia, Poland, or Saudi Arabia and is comparable to the population of Texas, or almost that of California.
Putin wants Russia to be seen as a respected global player while living conditions for a huge part of Russia’s population remain no better than in the early Middle Ages.
This is the true paradox before us: Putin seeks imperial expansion abroad while failing to secure basic human dignity at home - @MelnykAndrij
"The chances that Dua Lipa would help raise funds for a vehicle for our unit weren’t high... but they were never zero!"
British singer Dua Lipa helped the Ukrainian First Separate Medical Battalion acquire a pickup truck. The vehicle will be used for evacuations and operational tasks in the combat zone.
The funds were raised at a charity event organized by Service95, a platform founded by Dua Lipa. The money was transferred to Driving Ukraine, which retrofits vehicles for medics and military personnel.
Thank you, @DUALIPA! Thank you, everyone who helped make this happen!
Entitlement to subsidies is not the main issue delaying Ukraine's accession to the EU. It's the rampant corruption with impunity and lack of rule of law.Not to mention pro-russian influence across society - including Govt.We support Ukraine but not blindly

Magyar has stated that he will halt Hungary’s withdrawal from the ICC initiated under Orbán and that Hungary will comply with ICC arrest warrants.
This would mean that Netanyahu could be arrested if he entered Hungary.
I’m becoming increasingly a fan of Magyar.

Apocalyptic scenes in Russia's port city of Tuapse at this hour, as the entire Rosneft oil refinery and storage facility is being conpletely destroyed after Ukrainian strikes.
