Jessieโs arc in #ToyStory5 moved me so much. In the previous films, she is shown to have severe abandonment issues. She always thought that a toyโs role is to make their child happy, but that one day the child would grow up and move on and forget about them. Itโs what she dreaded with Andy, and itโs what she fears is happening with Bonnie once tech is introduced.
Jessie realizes however that a toy is much more impactful than she realized, that a toy plays such an important role in a personโs life. The purpose of a toy is much more than simply making a child happy. It is about creating those core memories with a child, memories that last a lifetime. It is not just about the singular moment. Jessie taught Emily so many things through play that shaped Emily into the person she became as an adult. Jessie was given away, yes, but she was never abandoned because the memories she shared with Emily lasted. Jessie knows now that Emily never forgot about her and that she will always matter to her. Emily will always love Jessie and will forever cherish the time that they shared together.
I fear Toy Story 5 was written by a millennial sick of these robotic kids on their devices, and It was chef kiss, They ate down with the messaging and how much weโve lost...tech isnโt the villain itโs what happenes when when devices replace imagination. Soooo good really...
