🧔♂️: When your fans embrace and support you like that, how does it make you feel?
Yoko: It makes me feel protected. It also made me realize that I need to protect myself more. Because if I don’t take care of myself, I won’t be able to protect the people I love—which are my fans. They come to see me because they want to be happy. If I’m constantly making them worry about me, I always wonder whether they’re truly enjoying themself.
🧔♂️ : So the lesson you’ve learned is that you have to stay strong for your fans?
Yoko: Yes… but at the same time, Yobies never make me feel like I have to be strong or capable all the time. Their love makes me feel safe. It reminds me that it’s okay to be vulnerable because I’m only human—a human being. I can feel sadness. I can cry. But what’s important is having a good way to manage those emotions and being able to control them well.
🧔♂️ : Are you happy these days? And what does happiness mean to you?
Yoko: Yes, I’m happy. These days, happiness is almost everything in my life—the environment I’m surrounded by, simply being born, getting to meet my fans, having good people around me, having meaningful work, and having a peaceful mind.
🧔♂️ These days, are you practicing mindfulness to stay calm? Or how do you avoid toxicity in your daily life?
Yoko: Honestly, I don’t think it’s something you can completely avoid because it’s part of being human. Everyone grows up differently and has different ways of thinking. Like I’ve said many times before, I divide things into two categories: things I can control and things I can’t.
For the things I can’t control—like people who are already biased—no matter how much I explain, all I’ll end up with is a sore throat because they were never trying to understand in the first place. So I focus on what I can control, which is myself. As for people who give constructive criticism and genuinely want an explanation, I’m always happy to talk with them. That’s why I don’t spend much energy on things that aren’t really worth worrying about.
🧔♂️ But those “not worth worrying about” issues seem to get worse every day. Have you ever thought about using legal action as another way to deal with them?
Yoko: I wouldn’t say I’ve thought about it—I would say I’ve already taken action. My family also has a legal background, so I’ve always believed in the rule of law. Society needs rules because we’re social beings. I don’t think there’s a better way to deal with these situations than through the legal process.
🧔♂️ Has that helped prevent those incidents from happening again?
Yoko: I think things have improved, but it still happens from time to time. I’ve also seen many other people experience the same thing. It’s not just me.
🧔♂️ Has avoiding the comments section helped your mental well-being?
Yoko: Whether I read the comments or not, I think the result is pretty much the same. It really depends on how I manage my own thoughts.
🧔♂️ I’d like to ask about your career. As an independent actress, are you currently looking for an agency? What kind of agency would be the right fit for you?
Yoko: I’m truly grateful for every opportunity that comes my way. Right now, though, I’m still taking my time to make several important decisions. I want to be completely confident before making any commitment because I genuinely care about my fans’ feelings.
