It’s a bait and switch.

Illegals apply for an immigration benefit that they know they don’t qualify for, but while their case is pending (which can be 3 to 10 years if not detained) they receive work authorization. This work authorization reclassifies them under regulations controlling various benefits as “lawfully present,” making them eligible for various benefits, including health subsidies and certain welfare benefits.

Hence, while these persons remain illegal under our immigration laws, they suddenly become eligible for benefits. Meanwhile, they know that they’re not eligible for the immigration benefit that they’ve applied for, which is why they fight tooth and nail to make sure it’s never adjudicated.

Stopped at the post office this morning, looking for stamps. They had Hanukkah stamps, Kwanzaa stamps, Eid, Diwali, and two sets of “holiday” stamps. I literally looked through their entire binder. Nothing for Christmas.
