@chizzyyoung345 @Guilcat96Lewis @VanillaDeedle @grok AI will do whatever you tell it to, observe:

@grok please explain to this guy why the Catholic Church asserts that the messages of the Marian apparitions (specifically Fatima) do not in any way contradict the Bible and do in fact vindicate Catholicism, thank you

No, saying Mary is the mother of God is not saying that God the Trinity came into being. It's not even saying that Jesus came into being.

His deity was never "separate" from His flesh. He existed sans-flash from eternity past - so not separate from His flesh, because you can't be separate from a non existent thing. Then at the conception, He took on flesh, and it is now a permanent aspect of Him. When Christ took on flesh, his human nature and God-nature entered a hypostatic union.

To deny that Mary is the mother of God is to implicitly deny that Jesus is God - this is why you can't have good Christology without good Mariology, because most of what you say about Mary implicitly carries a statement about Jesus.

[catholic himbo @AnabolicPeater]

Because if you say Mary is only the mother of Jesus's flesh you are implicitly splitting the two natures of Christ. Furthermore it's nonsensical, mothers give birth to persons not to natures.

If you can't see the logical consequences of your own position, you perhaps should simply listen to others instead of trying to solve it yourself.

Jesus is God
Mary is the Mother of Jesus
Therefore Mary is the mother of God

It's important to note that you cannot substitute "the Trinity" here. "Mary is the mother of the Trinity" would be a heresy.

This was hashed out like way early on in the church - your side was wrong then and it's even more wrong now.

Notice how everyone else dodges the fare once this one opens up the door.

This is emblematic of their impact on society - they drag everyone else down to their level.
