.@JeffBezos Dear Jeff, one of the smartest human beings, who’s ever walked on two legs on this planet 🌏 is selling stock like it’s his last meal before the electric chair? What does he know?
Net saving as % of gross national income is contracting ONLY for the 3rd time in 40 years
The last 2 occurred in 2008 and 2020
We all know how that played out…
I was talking to a friend recently with a net worth of roughly ~$25m, making around $2m a year.
They have a big house that’s paid off.
Multiple sports cars, designer clothes — the works.
They live in a very wealthy area, one where the houses can be anywhere up to $50m or even $100m.
They were telling me how unhappy they were lately and at one point in the conversation I said, “You have to start enjoying your life, you have it all. You’re healthy, you’re rich, you’re good looking” and they stopped me and said “I don’t think I’m rich.”
I literally looked at them flabbergasted, like “what do you mean you don’t THINK you’re rich?!?” And they said, “well, my neighbor has a $20m house, my friend has a $7m yacht… I can’t afford those things... THEY are rich.”
In life, perspective is everything.
My friend is in the 0.1% of wealth in America, yet when they compare themselves to their direct circle they don’t “feel” like it. They can’t see what the people trying to get to their level see.
There will always be someone “richer” than you, “better looking” than you, “more accomplished” than you, “stronger” than you.
The more you look outwards, the less you recognize how rich your life truly is.
