💡 Today, let’s bust some common misconceptions about #coaching
🌿 Coaching isn’t (only) needed when someone isn’t performing.
— It’s perfectly normal even for high-performance to seek out coaching!
🧵
👪 Coaching is not just something reserved for managers.
— You become a coach the moment you help someone else come up with ways to solve a challenge on their own.
😌 Talking from experience, coaching can be very rewarding, so I suggest you give it a try!
Do you like to check out other restaurants from time to time, just in case there might be a better version of your favorite dish out there?
Or do you only ever do this when your mind is fully set on changing?
👀 Occasionally and casually interviewing with other companies while employed.
🤔 Is it cheating, or just looking at what’s on the menu?

But I didn’t feel like I was going against the grain as I shifted between different styles over the years. I always stayed true to my core values while adapting ever so slightly.
☕️ To be fair, my preferences even shift depending on whether I've had coffee or not.
🤷♀️
🤨 Can we really stay true to our personal values and culture at work? Or do we somehow let company culture dictate our ways of doing things?
To me, it feels like every environment I've worked with changed me “culturally” ever so slightly.

I realized that through my career, my personal preferences shifted depending on where I worked: @amazon , @facebook or @Pitch
Was I mimicking behaviour for the sake of cohesion? 🧐
👍 If the answer is YES: hang in there. You might just be facing a temporary roadblock.
👎 If the answer is NO: move on to frustration # 2#2. Imagine it would disappear. That thought still not making you feel better? Move to frustration # 3 and do the same.
👀 And before anyone asks: of course, I could have said no.
But why would I want to pass up on the opportunity to be at the heart of some enriching discussions outside of my immediate remit?
😃 And why would I say no to helping out colleagues if I have the time to do it?
⏱ Last week I was pulled into 12 hours (!) of extra work, at ultra-short notice.
🗓 But that was perfectly fine. Thanks to the way I set up my #calendar.

I like to have half of my weekly schedule “protected” #timemanagement
🧠 Think of it as plenty of focus blocks that I can use whenever I need some headspace to work on projects or to deal with anything unexpected that creeps up.
✅ Don't be a joke: do your homework.
Approach a #prospect purposefully, i.e. with the right context and #valueproposition that will help frame a personalized message... and get you one step closer to closing!

👋🏻 Dear #sales person, dear #recruiter: firing bulk e-mails out might get you a couple of leads. Sure.
😬 But if you sincerely think you’re not damaging your #personalbrand or annihilating any chances of being taken seriously further down the road: think twice.
