Psychologists once had 600 angry people hit a punching bag. One group pictured the person who had wronged them while they swung. Another group just sat quietly and did nothing. The venters walked away angrier, and more aggressive, than the people who sat still.
That result keeps showing up. A 2024 review out of Ohio State pooled 154 studies and more than 10,000 people. Slow breathing, meditation, and gentle movement brought anger down. Rage rooms and screaming into a pillow did nothing. One of the lead researchers put it plainly: venting anger is like using gasoline to put out a fire.
Talking about a bad experience feels different from punching something, so you would expect it to work better. A Belgian psychologist named Bernard Rimรฉ spent years tracking what happens after people share an emotional event. Almost everyone does it, usually within hours. Across sixteen separate datasets, the sharing left people feeling supported and closer to whoever listened. It did not lower how much the memory still stung. If anything, retelling the story switched the feeling back on for both people in the room.
There is a specific version of this that lands harder. Amanda Rose, a psychologist at the University of Missouri, named it co-rumination: two people rehashing the same problem again and again, fixating on the worst of it. Her work keeps finding the same trade-off. People who do this grow closer to their friends and carry more anxiety and depression at the same time. The friendship does get closer, which is why it is easy to mistake for healing.
The approaches that hold up in the research are quieter. Name the feeling, briefly, in plain words. When people label an emotion as angry or scared, brain scans show the amygdala, the alarm system, going quiet while the reasoning part of the brain switches on. Writing helps too. In the first study of this, people who spent fifteen minutes over four days writing about a painful experience went to the doctor about half as often over the next six months.
None of this means bottling it up. Sitting on your feelings damages your health as well. The line the research keeps drawing is between one person who helps you make sense of something and an audience you keep re-performing the pain for.
i spent years optimizing for potential. taking courses, reading theory, waiting to feel "ready." meanwhile, people with half the talent were lapping me.
the world doesn't care about your capacity. it rewards your audacity. you don't get paid for what you know. you get paid for the risks you take.
What's odd (or well not)
10 years ago I'd eat mostly processed food, high carbs (like most ppl), bread, croissants, always lattes when I had coffee, pasta etc, protein was not a priority at all, and except for some bodyweight exercises and walking I didn't really work out at all, also I was very skinny like 50kg/110lbs
I'd feel tired regularly and would take afternoon naps, also quite anxious and regularly depressed, but I thought I was healthy though (I mean I wasn't fat? So I'm healthy? That was my logic)
Then I started going gym slowly ramping up to 4 times per week, lifting weights + cardio, and eating mostly clean and high protein like fresh meat, egg, vegetables, fruit, water, black coffee, and dark chocolate if I wanted candy, and I gained 60% weight (mostly muscle mass) and now I'm ~80kg/176lbs with 14% body fa
And nowadays I'm 10 years older than then but you wouldn't be able to get me to fall asleep in afternoon, I'm never lethargic, tired, almost never sick, never anxious, not depressed, almost always quite excited and energetic
So yes I agree with this, most people's hormonal system isn't functioning as it should, or would 100 years ago when the quality of our food wasn't this bad, most food in supermarkets and even restaurants now is trash and bad for you
Luckily the fix is quite easy: eat a clean diet of whole foods like meat, eggs, veg, fruit, black coffee, water, and hit the gym, lift weights and cardio and see how you feel in 3 months, at least this worked for me!
menurut jeff bezos stres muncul ketika menunda pekerjaan, bukannya mulai dikerjain malah cm dipikirin
pas saya punya hutang jg sama, pas diem pikiran overthingking kemana2, pas ngerjain sesuatu pelan2 malah lupa, kalau udah capek kerja, ngantuk tidur, jadi pikiran stresnya enggak sempet dateng.
jadi diem dan bengong kelamaan kayanya musuh utama stres ya? ๐
kalau lg banyak kerjaan/masalah
I believe no government anywhere is ever 100% clean or good, sure, but what I really hate is how the Indonesian government nowadays is just openly acting like:
โYeah, Iโm an asshole. Always have been. What are you gonna do about it?'

Di situ, mereka bilang kualitas hidup masyarakat turun. Ini ga cuma karena isu global tapi jg 1) misalokasi sumber daya dan 2) proses bernegara yg kurang amanah dan berujung ketidakadilan sosial.
Itโs on point.
kenapa ya diksinya mereka itu selalu begini. mau istrinya, anaknya, selalu ngerasa lebih punya power. pemakaian kalimat 'tapi mati kutu klo di depan mata' dan 'udah gue tandain' itu ciri abuse of power banget. diajarin gitu sampe ke level keluarga kah?
