Trans women aren’t “seen as men”. We’re seen as whichever gender the transmisogynist needs to see us as to justify the harm they want to do. The same straight men who’ll grope your tits without asking will call you a fag for having a boyfriend. They don’t care if it makes sense.
@dyke_messenger I think that's all bullshit so I kinda just say "whatever I am, that's a woman", and that identity has brought me a lot of comfort after asserting it, but the comfort comes after I recognize my doubts as patriarchal hauntings and tell them to fuck off.
@dyke_messenger I get that, and it got worse for me when I came to terms with being a lesbian. Heteronormativity defines woman as wife (of a man), and since that isn't ever in the cards for me there's some degendering feelings. There's also the whole cissexism thing others have talked about.
LRT: Acting as if we do have power over them, though, validates cis people's transmisogyny and in doing so allows trans men to weaponize cisness against us.
Cis people who identify more strongly with trans people who were assigned their gender at birth than trans people who actually share their gender get the side-eye
No marginalized men gets the same complete unbridled access to male privilege that ruling men get, but there's a reason we're discoursing about whether it should be "cis men are trash" and not discoursing about how it should be "white men are trash".
