Funny that you all made "AI proof challs" and it takes prompts like solve this and 20 mins to solve your hardest challenges. Loved the Interrogation tho and how dead set up were on that we cheated . See you at pbctf 6.0 if it happens

@pointblank_club organised the 5th edition of its CTF (Capture the Flag) this past weekend. For the first time, I felt a little empty and disappointed at the end. For the last few days I’ve really struggled with why I felt this way, because it was a top notch event. Fantastic venue, great food, amazing organisation, tons of swags and good questions. Then I figured it out. I felt sad because the competition wasn’t about our questions anymore. Every competition - whether it be a hackathon, CTF, competitive programming or any other, is an invisible contract between the organisers and the attendees. The attendees get a lot out of such events - a chance to win prize money, exposure to competition, swag, a chance to network with peers, a chance to upskill, free food and snacks among other things. What do the organisers get? They spend money, time and resources setting everything up. Advertising and hiring are not always necessary outcomes. As an organiser the main thing I get is to have people attempt challenges my team has set. To pit our collective minds against theirs. To set questions with interesting Easter eggs and gotcha moments and then seeing the public react to them! Any organiser will tell you that one of the most fulfilling bits is listening to participants describe their approach to problems, sharing their experiences and talking about the challenges. As the evening dawned on PBCTF 5.0 and we began to scrutinise the submissions for flag sharing, it was sad to see that most top teams used plugins and bots to the point that they hadn’t read any questions. There was nothing to discuss. No talks about the hardest question to solve or the most frustrating one. To be clear, using AI was allowed by the CTF rules and we spent time “AI-proofing” many of the questions. But I envisaged that AI would be used as another tool rather than a complete replacement for human ingenuity and creativity. The CTF was all about who had the most credits, the most money and the most access to the best models. And I felt the participants hadn’t held up their side of the bargain :) A big thank you to the teams who played our CTF. Thank you for showing up.
