Well said Mike, if cultural enlightenment is measured by our “contemporary” art than we certainly have fallen from a place that considers timeless beauty the benchmark standard of art to a place that pales by comparison. I can’t imagine future generations going out of their way to stop and marvel at “the Venus of the rags” but I can assure you they will still be struck with as much awe and wonder at those true works of art as you were.

The boy from Detmold.
Currently 1 of the oldest mummies in the world, around 6400 years old from Peru.
Named after the museum in Germany where the mummy is housed.
Analysis in 2010 revealed the child aged between 6/9 months old at the time of his death, suffered from hypoplastic left heart syndrome, and a vitamin D deficiency, together with pneumonia which led to his death.
He was carefully buried with an amulet around his neck and swaddled in cotton.
The skull was naturally elongated (no headbinding or boarding, with 3 natural sucheres)
