🎬 Now Live!
My review of Criterion’s new 4K UHD release of Five Easy Pieces (1970), starring Jack Nicholson and directed by Bob Rafelson.
A fascinating New Hollywood classic that feels even richer on a second viewing.
I discuss the film, the 4K presentation, Blu-ray comparison, supplements, and whether it’s worth the upgrade.

🎬 Thanks to everyone who joined tonight’s Arrow Video August 2026 livestream!
My top announcement:
🥇 Identity (4K)
Biggest surprise:
🎬 The People vs. Larry Flynt (4K)
And judging by the chat, Troy may have been the community favorite.

🚨 Arrow Video August announcements arrive Friday at 11AM EDT! 🚨
This teaser image has me completely stumped. 😂🦴
Any guesses?
I’ll be LIVE Friday afternoon reacting to all the announcements and discussing the highlights, surprises, and potential pickups. 🎬🔥
Memorial Day 2026 🇺🇸
To those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country, and to the families who carry that sacrifice with them every day…
We remember you.
We honor you.
And we will never forget.
Wishing everyone a meaningful and reflective Memorial Day.
Really enjoyed tonight’s Criterion August livestream discussion with everyone.
Definitely more of a deeper-cut, discovery-oriented slate this month, but Harlan County, USA 4K and Coup de Torchon are the two titles that stand out most to me right now.

Criterion officially confirmed the August 2026 announcements for Monday… and this is the hint image they dropped. 👀🌹
Any guesses?

Why are train movies so cinematic?
Today I’m talking about 10 great train movies I love — from Hitchcock and Murder on the Orient Express to Snowpiercer, Train to Busan, and Bullet Train.
Also sharing a little bit about my old CSX Transportation days and how that may have shaped my love of train cinema.

Criterion Spotlight #8 is now live!
This time I’m discussing Akira Kurosawa’s Stray Dog (1949) — an early noir-influenced crime drama that feels surprisingly modern and may be one of Kurosawa’s most underrated films.
Really enjoyed revisiting this one in 4K.

Didn’t expect this…
The comments on my last physical media video turned into a real conversation.
So I made a follow-up sharing what YOU all said—some really interesting trends in how collecting is changing.
Appreciate the community on this one 🙏

Happy May the 4th.
I’ve owned these in multiple formats over the years…
Now?
I only upgrade what I know I’ll revisit.
Not everything—just what I love.

Arrow July lineup looks strong.
Top picks for me:
👉 Falling Down (4K)
👉 Red Sun (4K)
To Live and Die in L.A. is a great release too, but I already have the Kino 4K.

What’s your #1 pick?
First time watching Point Blank (1967) on Criterion 4K—and I really enjoyed it.
Cold, stylish, and a great revenge structure with Lee Marvin locked in from start to finish.
That late-60s LA vibe looks incredible in 4K.

Watched The Dead (1987) this afternoon—John Huston’s final film.
Quiet, reflective, and more about life, memory, and feeling than plot. Builds to a final moment that really lingers.
Also looks beautiful in 4K.
Did this one connect with you—or feel a bit too subtle?
First time watching House Party—really enjoyed it.
Can’t believe I waited this long 😄

What’s your #1 pick?
Criterion Spotlight #7 is live 🎬
Revisited The Killing (1956) — early Kubrick, but you can already see the blueprint for the modern heist film.
Where do you rank it in his filmography? #Kubrick#Criterion

Viridiana (1961) just hit Criterion 4K—and it’s one of Buñuel’s most provocative films.
New review drops at 11AM EST 🎬
Is it a masterpiece… or a difficult watch that challenges more than it rewards?
