@ChrisChattin@42agentcrm@DJSnM May be u just never lived in places where winter temps regularly drop down to -30C, while summer temps typically go up to +30C.
And there is nothing unintuitive to think about neutral temp as zero, cold as negative and warm as positive.
@ChrisChattin@42agentcrm@DJSnM -40C..+40C range covers the majority of climates where humans live. 0C is a midpoint between a "definitely summer" and "definitely winter" climates. Easy.
If one'd really wanted to tie the scale to the cold/hot sensation, they should've chosen 0F at 22C/72F ("room temperature").
'In his view, if a man couldn’t control his own bowels, he couldn’t control anything at all, and if that meant controlling them for 14 straight days, that’s what he would do. Through sheer will and orneriness, Borman made it through the first week and and then through an 8th day. Partly out of self-interest, even Lovell was beginning to root for him. But no man can hold out forever.
“Jim”, Borman said on day 9, “I think this is it.”
“Frank, you have only 5 more days left to go here,” Lovell joked. But 5 days was 5 too many, and Borman, who believed that any obstacle could be overcome, learned in a new and very primal way that no, not all of them can be.'
@daviskens@DJSnM The 1/r² is for a spherical wave from a point-like source. Here, the whole trajectory is a line-like source, so the resulting wave is conical (cylindrical at v->inf).
Or, it can be seen as a chain of spherical waves whose "backward" parts reinforce and change the law to 1/r.
@CTrot35@DJSnM The info about health of public officers is disclosed not for taxpayers' curiosity but to prevent non-performer from performing. The amount of info is limited to "can't perform due to health"; no publication of diagnoses is required. And it is limited to elected officials only.
@000chrisBee@DJSnM Or it can be built with some level of redundancy and graceful degradation to survive several years until time comes to launch a new generation of DCs with more powerful tech and deorbit the old ones
@joey_jojojojojo@GravyGG@TheBrancaShow@SenatorHick We do pay anyway, the whole "state vs private" argument is about who decides what is the best use of the money you have: those who purchase the medical services (you) or some middlemen.
What the US really needs to fix is price transparency. UHC just makes it less transparent.
