How I Got Over is the AND Campaign’s new docuseries about the role a devout faith in the authority of Scripture played in the history of the Black Church. Premieres February 13th. #BHM
In the Digital Age, if we want to find a religious leader who’ll tell us our sin isn’t sin, we will find them.
There have always been teachers who’re willing to “tickle” our ears. They’re just more accessible now.
Faith is surrendering to God’s truth not making it serve us
The goal of Christian social engagement isn’t to avoid everything “woke” progressives or white evangelicals do or believe.
It’s to glorify Christ by loving our neighbor and obeying Scripture. Love (&) Truth
Lift up Christ and you’ll avoid the errors on all sides
Politics can have a significant impact on human flourishing. Christians should engage politics to ensure their neighbors aren’t denied justice.
That said, Christian leaders shouldn’t overstate the role of politics. Many solutions are best achieved by families and communities.
All the games being played with voter’s rights and gerrymandering right now are repugnant and undemocratic.
The main people talking about patriotism and civil rights will throw all that out the window to give their party an electoral advantage.
Yet another reason to take your children to church. They need a moral foundation and structure to hold onto in life.
The world is just going to teach them to be “free”, but freedom without a moral compass is to be lost.
"I was so lost in the things of the world and living life trying to make it through. But Jesus really had His hand on me the whole time. … I didn’t give all the credit to Him at first, but now I give all the credit to Him.”

One of my biggest concerns is that Christians are being so radicalized with political and racial animosity that we’ll have no desire to be peacemakers moving forward.
Algorithms are feeding us nonstop propaganda about how great we are and how awful our political opponents are.
We talk about love and liberation as if the true definitions are obvious, they’re not.
In the Bible, love isn’t simply affirmation, it’s self-sacrifice and wanting what God wants for others.
Liberation isn’t simply freedom to do as we please, it’s freedom to do what’s right.
Democrats cut into the Republican margin in one of the most conservative districts in Georgia.
Big Question: Why are moderate Black Democrats forced to go left (which makes them weaker and less representative of their constituents) to raise money?
Bad Theology: Jesus didn’t specifically denounce [fill in the blank]; therefore, it isn’t wrong or isn’t important.
False! There are many issues Jesus didn’t explicitly mention (child sacrifice, drug dealing, etc.) that are clearly prohibited in the overall biblical ethic.
Astronaut Victor Glover reflects on Easter and the beauty of Creation from space.
“We have this beautiful place that we get to exist together…As we go into Easter Sunday…[I see] this as an opportunity to think about where are, who we are and that we’re all the same thing.”
It’s sad how much Trump has monopolized the attention of so many Christians for and against him.
He must be addressed, but too many other issues are being ignored.
We’ll accept bad behavior & theology, & neglect other crises to focus on who’s on the right & wrong side of Trump.
Some Christians choose to ignore the Bible’s instructions on compassion, justice and grace.
Other Christians ignore what the Bible says about individual sin and think any mention of holiness or moral standards is judgmental.
Faith Christianity involves Compassion (&) Conviction
Conservatives aren’t necessarily wrong abt James Talarico. His faith doesn’t challenge any element of the secular progressive social agenda. That’s wrong and seems like a political gimmick.
The problem is they’ve lost credibility by failing to apply a biblical standard to Trump.
Don’t trust your algorithm to help you develop an informed and faithful opinion.
It feeds your worst impulses.
It makes everyone who disagrees with you look like a buffoon or a demon.
It hides the best arguments on the other side.
It will lure you into hating your neighbor.
Some suggest that those with bad political opinions are not Christians at all.
Be careful! That’s self-righteous and ignores the injustice and immorality on your side.
Jesus brought zealots and tax collectors together. It’s not likely salvation is exclusive to your party.
