Can we make a difference? will cafcass, family courts, social services, camhs & nhs SEE & ACT on Emotional Neglect? Highlighting PA, FII, narcissistic parenting
In my ‘perfect world’ this is my blueprint for identifying & resolving #ParentalAlienation much earlier for UK children. I’d welcome people’s thoughts...? What would be the barriers to this?
@MyCafcass are you tracking outcomes of children after FC? You need to - that’s how we’ll see how many you’ve let down over the years. Own your mistakes & for their sake, start learning from them! Your regional teams are pitiful! Do you even care?
And the longer it goes on thru the court process @woodallthoughts, the more astute an aligned parent becomes, ensuring child attends contact, even tho they feel they are visiting the enemy. And cafcass totally miss it. When will they realise they need to identify splitting early?
Too many children are suffering from emotional and psychological harm which is compounded by lack of understanding and false narratives. We must work hard to help these children, they are suffering as they try to survive in an unsafe world.
Cafcass & judges don’t understand what splitting is, how to use experts to identify if it’s present, that DV vs a male is just as damaging as vs female victim, that coercive control of a child is still abuse - how are we ever going to deal with these cases in lower courts?
Findings of facts are not happening.
Experts are not being used.
And the new guidance is now taking us backwards in the arena of child protection.
I worry for so many children who are missed - even though it is so obvious to a trained eye.
There is no pain on this earth like a parent who knows their child is being abused & who can do nothing to help. That’s what alienation is. Imagine your child is being harmed & you have to stand by & watch, every day, every year. It is excruciating.
In a week's time, it's Supporting Male Victims of Domestic Abuse Day (#MenYouAreNotAlone).
The ask is for any organisation supporting men to publicise the help they provide. We had 160 involved last year and at least the same this time! Get involved 👇 https://t.co/MgOS5HLsGF
@MichaelGLFlood I think they need to check the (civil) Family Courts too. Not just criminal systems. It will be a far diff picture but what is far more damaging is that Courts avoiding Finding of Facts now, so allegations remain on record but unproven. Very damaging!
And now he’s going to go on to be the best social worker! Not many have insights & experience like he does. What an amazing job you all did & I hope you are kind to yourself too. The simmering anger is something else isn’t it?
Who else was at the #FSC2024 Synposium yest? We watched it online with many parents & I’m still processing how great those ‘kids’ were. Gives us hope that ours can come out the other side - if only we can get the Courts to see.
@PAAwarenessUK@parentalienated@woodallthoughts
@kazzkumar I’m in the same position as you. The new partner of a man fighting to see his children. We’ve been through the Family Courts regarding alienation & coercive control for 10+ years. Maybe we’ll get there this time? The lower courts & Cafcass give too many chances to abusive mothers
@Familoo your book ‘Family Court without a lawyer’ is excellent. I can’t find anything about handling false allegations of DA. Perhaps an addition if you write update?
Has anyone got ideas how to handle if QLR forced upon you, without evidence or Finding of Fact being allowed?
@CommissionerDA@Right2Equality I will certainly make sure my partner mentions this in his case where his ex-wife was abusive towards him & is now inflicting coercive control on his children. When you say ‘equality’ - I assume you do mean just that? This is not about VAWG - it’s all for all abusive parents.
Over 4 years on & I still believe this should be the model. Tiny steps forward have been made in the past few years, and very grateful to those working in child protection who have done this. But still so much more to do. Hello to my followers from 4yrs ago. Yes we’re back.

Update for anyone reading my timeline - thankfully we got placed with a different Cafcass officer & this one has had training since 1990!! Actually very surprised how much more @MyCafcass can now recognise alienating behaviours & emotional harm. But mop up training with all pls.
Unfortunately the regional lower courts are still way behind @woodallthoughts. Our Cafcass officer thinks all is fine because contact is happening again - never ever heard what splitting is. Thinks courts would never move a child away from their mother. It’s like we’re in 1985!
