I’m tired of saying this.
The Dodgers aren't what's wrong with baseball.
They draft well. They develop talent. They spend because they generate revenue, and they reinvest it into winning. That's what every fanbase says it wants its ownership to do…..
If your frustration is with the sport's economics, payroll structure, or owners unwilling to spend, that's a different conversation. But don't blame the team that's simply maximizing EVERY advantage WITHIN THE RULES!
@theaceofspaeder Was on the 2012 #Dodgers team that went thru bankruptcy. New ownership eventually came in & promised from day 1 that they would do all they could to put a winning team on the field. To go from that to where we are now has been incredible to witness.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired two-time Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for outfielder Zyhir Hope and right-handed pitchers River Ryan and Brady Smith.
Mookie Betts traded bc Red Sox were cheap with their extension
Braves chose Olson over Freeman
Angels refused to win around Ohtani
Yankees wouldn’t pay Yamamoto more than Cole
Arte vetoed a Pages trade
Rays didn’t want to pay Glasnow
Cardinals gave up on Edman
A’s DFA’d Max Muncy
& now Tigers refused to pay Tarik Skubal.
These baseball GMs make it too easy.
📆 𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗢𝗪𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞: In 1996, West Ham manager Harry Redknapp was asked at a fans' forum why he keeps picking his nephew in the team, Frank Lampard, instead of Scott Canham.
🗣️ Redknapp: "I’m telling you he will go right to the very top of the game."
The funniest part is that Lacroix and Calafiori arrived in the Premier League in the same year.
One joined Palace.
One joined Arsenal.
Yet somehow the Palace player ended up winning 3 trophies, while the one who joined Arsenal has just 1 to his name.
So if anyone has earned the right to talk about winning, it's probably him.
Because if Lacroix doesn't know a thing or two about winning, he'd be wearing an Arsenal shirt instead.
