@FootballInT80s What a top guy
I do often wonder if he thinks about just deciding to talk bollocks, in full knowledge that no one can challenge him as we’ve broadly not got a clue about South American football.
@razz534988@gloryglorytott Yeah, agree he is a risk and maybe not one worth taking, but he’s a lot more established than Odobert ever was.
Odobert was a cheap punt from a relegated Burnley. Savinho has 13 Brazilian caps at the age of 22 and has spent a couple of years at City. Different pedigree.
@razz534988@gloryglorytott He is miles better than Odobert. The concern is essentially an inactive year, so god knows what that has done to him. But he is (or at least was) a really talented player
@jaythfc89@hckamz It's not particularly dragged out, it's just with 24/7 news and social media we are all caught up in this vacuum of nonsense. We are talking about multi million pound deals, players careers, their families, schools for kids etc. It's all exasperated on here.
Manchester United won’t spend €85m+ to sign Mateus Fernandes, while clubs like Spurs and Real Madrid are prepared to pay what’s necessary for the players they actually want.
Every ambitious club backs its manager in the market. United? Still hunting for the cheapest deals and settling for mid players who can’t even break into their national team’s starting XI.
@Spurs_Optimist@QuantK22 Yeah I guess so. The outcome will determine if it was the right call
He looked lively against Ghana, changed the dynamic in that game.
As you say, he’s done alright. Which in general people can’t process. We seem to live in a time where extremes are the chosen discourse
Starting to think the French front 4 are up there with the very best forward lines ever assembled at a World Cup.
Those older than me will no doubt point out something from the 50’s-80’s and Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho were really special in 2002. But…
@AvonandsomerRob There has never been a golden boot race with the best players on the planet all performing like this tournament. The French front 4 all at the peak of their powers. Messi rolling back the year. Kane scoring. Haaland scoring
@offgriddesigner The nauseating Americanisation of the greatest game on the planet has been the real downer
However ‘no superstars’ is a nonsense. I don’t remember another tournament where the superstars have to a man turned up like this one

@Spurs_Optimist@QuantK22 I just thought Saka was injured as you say, so possibly question why he went in the first place
Saka is a very good player, a bit off the very best but that’s fine really. He doesn’t seem to have the spatial awareness that the likes of Olise have, but not many do.
@AndyPerry145092 I really don’t know, it seemed to come out of blue, especially as PSG, Utd, Madrid we’d believe to have been keen
Not sure on Locatelli. I’d like him for sure
@AndyPerry145092 I’d have thought so
It’s a complex one. Fernandes holds the power really, if he says only Utd (I’m not sure he’s doing that) then it puts them in pole position. I have to admit I’ve not watched much of him, but do wonder if we could spend more effectively elsewhere.
