Concerning the attack, the Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kyiv wrote on X:

“Due to the Russian shelling that is currently taking place, on the night of June 15, the roof of one of the holiest places in the Christian world—the Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra—is burning.

We ask for prayers for the salvation of the shrine from destruction.

Another Russian crime against humanity, against history, against Christianity.”

On June 15, Russia once again launched a massive attack on Kyiv, using approximately 70 missiles and over 600 drones of various types. Poland strongly condemns Russia’s barbaric attack that resulted in fatalities and more than 30 injuries, including children.

Serious damage was also reported to sites of particular significance to Ukraine’s religious and cultural heritage, including the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, one of the most important sites of Orthodox Christianity and a site of exceptional value to the world’s cultural heritage.
