I am a comedy writer and performer who has worked in feature films, television, radio and stage for more than 38 years. I currently live and work in Toronto.
Barack: You told me all those years ago that you couldn’t promise me the world, but you could promise me an interesting life. Of course, you outdid yourself and managed to give me both.
Eight years in the crucible, and not once did you melt from the heat. Not once did you let it harden you. Instead, you used it to reveal your truest essence: your stubborn optimism and unflinching courage, your dazzling brilliance and unpretentious decency, your ferocious work ethic and absolutely unshakable moral fiber.
It means so much to Barack and me to open up the Obama Presidential Center on the South Side of Chicago. This is where I grew up, where Barack got his start, and where we raised our girls. So having a place where kids from our community can see themselves, connect with each other, and channel their hope—there’s nothing more powerful than that.
Anne Schedeen, who played the matriarch on “ALF,” has died at age 77.
“She leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of creative energy, whip smart humor, delight in her family, adoration for little dogs, burning hatred for Trump, passion for second-hand thrifting, and love for a good story. We are bereft without her. We loved her so so much, as did all who met her,” her family writes in a statement.

On June 12, 1983, 43 years ago today, I won the last singles tournament title of my career at the Edgbaston Cup.
The Maud Watson cup is a very special prize.
Maud was the first-ever
Wimbledon Singles champion (1884).

I’m not sure what people expected Madonna to do. She was never going to ‘go gentle into that good night.’ It’s okay to be older and still want to have fun. Sure she looks a little unhinged, but surely she has earned the right to do whatever the hell she wants.
I owe my first (and only) French Open women's singles title to the one and only @ChrissieEvert.
Winning this title was a big goal, and she practiced with me endlessly in Florida beforehand so I could prepare.
I won the title 54 years ago today.
Thank you, Chrissie!
