On Tuesday, the #A350F drew attention when it made its maiden flight, but another exceptional special livery was also on show in #Toulouse -> #A320Neo Brussels Airlines OO-SBB Tomorrowland. 😍
This Airbus A300 Zero-G simulates space-like weightlessness using parabolic flight, giving passengers 20-30 seconds of zero gravity per maneuver used for astronaut training and research.
UNPACKING THE A350F’S LIVERY — IT’S MORE TECHNICAL THAN IT LOOKS
The first Airbus A350F has emerged from the paintshop wearing a striking new livery — but behind the graphics is a four-year engineering and manufacturing effort.
Here are some of the technical highlights 👇
🎨 1,000 m² canvas
With almost no passenger windows, the A350F offered designers an enormous canvas. More than 4,000 public submissions were received, with two winning concepts ultimately combined into the final design.
🛩️ 90%+ composite airframe
The A350F is predominantly built from composite materials, which behave differently from metals as temperatures change. Airbus therefore developed a new, more flexible external primer designed to absorb thermal stresses while maintaining adhesion and durability.
⚖️ Paint has a weight penalty
Aircraft paint isn't weightless. A typical A350 paint system can add approximately 400–500 kg of dry-film mass. Engineers therefore had to balance the visual complexity of the livery against strict aircraft weight requirements.
🧩 Paint + adhesive films
Instead of painting every graphic directly, Airbus combined conventional paint with decorative adhesive films. The printed films reduce the number of paint layers, colours and masking operations required — helping cut both weight and painting time.
📦 World’s largest main-deck cargo door
The A350F required a custom paintshop configuration. Engineers developed a dedicated access module and a method to mask/unmask the huge main-deck cargo door without opening it, reducing the risk of damage.
🔴 3D laser anti-collision technology
One of the coolest pieces of technology is hidden inside the paintshop. A digital zero-collision system uses 3D laser mapping and sensors to guide the automated painting platform around the aircraft.
As the platform approaches the fuselage, its movement automatically slows — and it stops completely just 5 cm from the aircraft surface.
📐 Custom infrastructure
The A350F's fuselage length falls between the A350-900 and A350-1000, requiring Airbus engineers to create a custom paintshop setup specifically for the freighter.
🖤 Carbon-fibre identity
The vertical stabiliser features a distinctive carbon-fibre weave graphic, highlighting the A350F’s composite construction and linking it visually with other A350 prototype aircraft.
From public design competition to composite-compatible coatings, automated laser safety systems and weight optimisation, the A350F’s paint job is a fascinating example of where aviation design meets aerospace engineering.

Anyone know this aircraft? No tail number. Flew in from Andrews Airfiorce Base yesterday to Palm Springs. Could it be one of the delayed Airforce Ones undergoing testing? There were two Blackhawk Helicopters ready to take off also.
Today is #NationalAviationDay! ✈️ Air travel is possible because of the many aviation professionals who work every day to keep America’s busy airspace safe. From air traffic controllers and technicians to inspectors and so many others, thank you for your dedication.
Tail strike on VN-A867 + possible ELECTRIC BRAKE ACTUATOR ISSUES On Both MAIN GEAR.
Vietnam Airlines 787-9 out of Munich today... very late rotation, almost full runway used, confirmed tail strike, then returned with multiple tires shredded.
Electric Brake Actuator (EBA) seizure or internal fault is high on my list for that kind of acceleration. Fits the PICTURE also arrived with shredded tires.
Just my theory. Waiting for the report.

🟢 #DidYouKnow | The Airbus A350-1000ULR test aircraft (F-WULR) completed a record-breaking 24-hour, 24-minute nonstop flight from Melbourne to Toulouse, covering 12,460NM (23,075.92 km). The milestone surpassed the Boeing 777-200LR's 2005 endurance record of 22 hours and 42 min.
