For our second year mapping trip to NW Scotland, we are using elevation data to 3D print field areas! This has been a great teaching tool to help explain how the geology interacts with the topography! Here is the shore of Loch Assent (in 3D print and reality!)
I’m really excited to say I have passed my viva on Thursday! Thank you to @RichardThomasW and @joshammond for a great discussion and to my supervisors Pieter, James (both twitterless) and @TomatronMitch for sharing their knowledge for the last 4 years!
Just a reminder that the deadline to submit an abstract for @SeismoSocietyAm 2023 Annual Meeting is tomorrow 5 pm Pacific time. We are looking forward to all contributions discussing normal faults!
Technical sessions for the SSA 2023 annual meeting were just announced! We will explore normal faults in our session Normal faults: from source to surface. Have a look at the technical sessions here and join us for the discussion https://t.co/PzQJxiAJkV
Anyone at #AGU22 interested in diatoms, oxygen isotopes and lake level reconstructions?
Come and have a chat with me at this morning poster session (Poster ID H22W-1142, Poster Hall A) or after my talk Friday morning at 10.12am CST (Abstract ID PP52A-08, room S405a)

Azores seismic deployment to monitor "seismic swarm". New blog by @WillSturge. As part of the NERC emergency grant, teams from @ES_UCL and @UPFLOWEU undertook an expedition to deploy 10 seismometers to monitor these activities. @auggiem23

This article came out today https://t.co/9UV2vOwN7U. Almost made it for the anniversary of the Hebgen Lake Earthquake. We used image correlation to quantify offsets and quantified off-fault deformation associated with normal faulting.
Finally got to have a good look at the images we collected in the field last month! Beautiful fault scarp = clear displacement and a beautiful DEM. Hopefully we get some good measurements out of these! 🤞
