As 2031 draws near, many NUP MPs will almost certainly start urging @HEBobiwine to come home and campaign for them to win a political seat. Right now, his exile is convenient because they collect their salaries, enjoy the privileges of Parliament, and face little immediate pressure to confront the risks he has lived with of stolen victory and harassment. His absence has not stopped the perks from flowing.
Closer to the next election, the calculation changes. Parliamentary seats in strongholds often ride on his personal brand and residual popularity. Without him on the ground—or at least visibly backing candidates—many of those seats become much harder to hold. What looks like solidarity today can quickly turn into a quiet demand that the principal return so others can climb on the wave he generates.
I still remain Bobi’s best friend because I tell him the truth while bum-lickers around him comfort him with lies.
