Preparing my first update as Chair for my first meeting of the Executive of Central Devon Labour.
Very excited about the potential and the opportunities ahead.
Can't believe it's been over a week since my election.

@Keir_Starmer is absolutely right. All people of Devon and the entire community will be rocked to the core at this aweful news today.
All of us now need to respect Annes family and give them privacy.
My whole hearted support goes to @DC_Police in their investigation.
The whole country will be utterly shocked by the awful news about the circumstances of Ann Widdecombe’s death.
Today we come together across the political divide and I pay tribute to Ann’s dedication during her many years of public service.
My thoughts and deepest condolences are with Ann’s family and friends.
A new breakfast club is coming to Exeter!
From September, children at St Gabriel’s Primary in Exwick will be able to start their day with a free breakfast, courtesy of Labour. They join St Sidwell’s and Whipton Barton Infant and Junior Schools 🍞 🍎
I disagreed with Anne Widecombe a lot, but no one deserves this.
Thoughts with her family and friends after todays statement from the Police.
Im shocked at this news.
Two things at once this month, and both of them feel right.
First: a new role as General Manager in Exeter — a city that keeps drawing me back, in the best possible way. The team have been outstanding from day one.
Second: I am now Chair of Central Devon Labour, following an unexpected but very welcome nomination last week.
Different worlds, in some ways. But both rooted in the same thing: showing up for the place you are in, building something that works, and doing it with good people around you.

Second update of the day. The AGM went very well. I was also fortunate to be nominated for, and was elected Chair of the Central Devon Labour Party.
Happy political retirement to Niall, after 4 years of service.
The work for 2026/7 for Labour in Devon begins now.

Central Devon Labour AGM today, looking forward to a healthy and positive discussion.
My take on today is simple. We need to look ahead to the opportunities of a Burnham led Labour Government for our community. Most importantly however is the opportunity to craft a system of Labour values that fit Devon.
@UKLabour
Andy Burnham's speech today had the right diagnosis. Westminster is broken, devolution matters, growth has to reach every postcode. But "No 10 in the North" is a structure, not a result. Labour does not need a Messiah right now. It needs delivery. My take below.

One week back in PBSA after a few years away.
Verdict so far: genuinely glad I returned. Good team, good company, and a sector with more change coming than most people outside it realise.
Britain is about to get a new PM who has openly questioned whether we "overpromoted university." That matters more to student housing than most people in the sector are admitting.

As exciting as politics is, in the real ordinary world of work. We've had multiple power cuts, and we're trying to run a 300 bed building.
Not to mention the high temperatures.
A good end to week 1 in my new role.
Still enjoying the job.

Congratulations to @bevcraig on being selected as the candidate for Greater Manchester.
The next campaign begins now.
Let's build on Makerfield and get this done.
I have never liked coronations in politics.
A leadership contest with no real contest teaches a party nothing about the person it is about to hand the country to.
My take on Starmer's resignation, Burnham, and the "messiah" problem his own side has created for him.

An honourable and decent man. History will be kinder to Keir.
What is needed now is a test of ideas and direction. We need an honest leadership election.
