5B: Mars 37 I North Allegheny 9
Trey "The Slay" Raishart scored more for Mars in this game with 10 points than North Allegheny scored as a team!
What. A. Game!!
@EmmaBostian As both an engineer and a leader saying and hearing, “do what you need to do” and knowing it will be an immediate response has been better than any celebration to and for me.
Hey @mipsytipsy, finally got a chance to watch your presentation on compliance standards and modern dev practices and appreciate how you communicated the truths about how they can fit. Thanks to @ISobiWan for the heads up https://t.co/p6AFV4HByg.
@DrewTheDev1 Love you buddy, but my reaction is a bit different. 💯my solutions aren’t as uniquely genius as I like to think. But the value I bring deviates. I get what you assert, but the greatest value I bring is my experience navigating this stuff to create real business value.
@rj_dudley@feslerj FHIR has big potential, but can only achieve it through standard codification across systems enabled through effective SDLC governance. The spec is good, but doesn't move the bar without efficient governance - the true opportunity in healthcare software development.
Habit: When I open a PR, I review the diff myself first.
I ask:
Is this change well tested?
Are docs necessary?
Any hacks I need to resolve?
Any follow-up tickets I should open?
Do I need to add comments or improve my naming?
Should I split this PR to make it more focused?
I'm writing my "Effective Automated Testing" talk for @codemash today.
(Sandusky, OH in 10 days, tickets available)
Here are my favorite slides so far.
@DrewTheDev1 I can't see the code snippet, but your tweets scream to me just use an exponential backoff. Knowing you, it's probably nowhere near that simple ...
the best ideas i ever shipped came from engineers on my team. an engineer's job is NOT only to code. they are incredible problem solvers and are ridiculously creative.
they understand the tech, know what is possible, and will be building it.
involve them early and often!
@DrewTheDev1 Isn’t that a good thing? It works and accomplished what you needed and you’ve grown since then learning lessons which can be applied back. I get the feeling, but focus on all the positives which lead to it.
I personally think that the idea that _everything_ you do must be on a backlog is ridiculous. That attitude turns the backlog into a tool for control and micromanagement. It's the opposite of agility. →
@csharpfritz That stinks. There are often lines out here waiting for the boxes to be unloaded from the trucks from what I hear but I used to be lucky and find it some times.
@csharpfritz I enjoy Buffalo Trace as well and have purchased it many times in PA near Pittsburgh, but it sure is hard to find. Is it not available out east?
