@cortementi773 Ngl Disney animated movies for the past couple years have been lacking style wise while companies like DreamWorks, Sony, and now even Pixar are doing more creative and interesting things in animation. Plus an overreliance on sequels isnt helping
@devanseleven@DiscussingFilm Sort of, that one was called Be Fri and it was more about a friendship break up while this seems to be more about a friendship becoming long distance. It also had more Sailor Moon vibes too
@mattpatatas11@endless_real@DiscussingFilm I do think that it is important that people get to play characters that represent their culture, but im this case everyone involved is Filipino so idk what the fuss is about lol
@endless_real@DiscussingFilm Director is Filipino, the writer is filipino, the actresses are Filipino, the movie takes place in the Philippines, and you think its gentrified?
@SivleFred@I_am_biitt The other flaw is that sometimes their adorkability makes no sense. Like for Mirabel it makes sense because she's the outcast with no powers in a family with powers, but for someone like Asha it just doesn't.
@OfficialRedRab@I_am_biitt Yeah that OG video was about how it felt like most of the female disney character in the past 15 years have been given the same characteristics if being quirky and clumsy, sometimes in a way that makes no sense. Judy was more of a go getter than adorkable in the movie
@SombrasHckGlove@kangseultan Yeah im sick of "this looks like its ai" anytime a new movie comes out when in reality ai looks like the animation it stole from
@APPictures9 Id also like to point out that originally the protagonist was going to be a boy before Disney decided that they needed another female centered movie in their roster. (Not saying it as a bad thing, I just want variety and a Mom/son lead movie would have been interesting)
@emeraldappul@AlphaOmegaTri The source of people's problem is that the Owl House got canceled when they had a lesbian couple on the show, so Disney making a movie with a similar premise after its cancelation feels like a kick in the balls
