If you think it’s not ok under any circumstances in any worldview then we would just disagree. I think upon certain occasions and circumstances it would be the appropriate thing to do.
Very often simply saying the truth is seen as offensive and incendiary by quite a bit of people.
So in my mind - assuming wisdom and truth are applied - it’s fair game and often the right decision.
If you think it’s never ok then I feel we got to the foundation of the disagreement and had a good conversation.
@osucowboytc I think we need to distinguish between what we’re doing here.
In your mind - is there ever a time to use incendiary language under any circumstance from any worldview?
That’s not what I said or meant - let me clarify.
Let’s both assume Christianity is true and Islam and Hinduism aren’t.
It would logically follow that whatever religion is true has more authority and accuracy than the ones that aren’t true.
This would apply if Islam were true and Christianity false as well.
Does that help?
Yikes Tyler - you’re very sensitive to honest questions. I’ve been very respectful and honest every step through.
The reason I ask isn’t because your views only matter if you’re a Christian - it’s just a matter of knowing the coherency of what you’re saying and seeing if it’s consistent.
If you think Christianity is true the conversation is very different than if you don’t think it’s true is all.
This is exactly what I was saying above though. What am I missing?
Obviously the issue is in the truth of the worldview the individual comes from - not just an evoking of religious language in and of itself right?
Or are you saying anything that is incendiary rhetoric in the name of religion is a problem regardless of the religious worldview it comes from?
@osucowboytc Please provide an example to help clarify what you mean. Saying it’s a strawman without demonstrating clarity is just disenguinous and a smoke screen.
More than happy to listen to you elaborate more if you’re willing.
You do this weird thing where every time someone pushes back on your view you tell them they aren’t understanding without providing clarifying examples on where the misunderstanding is. I thought it was initially just the difficulties of communicating online but it seems more like it’s intentional at this point.
Very strange.
Believe me - I did.
The rhetoric from a Christian world view about how there are satanic forces at play behind the world’s system is biblical and true.
When someone who’s a Muslim says that with the same rhetoric they are wrong.
The substance of the worldview is absolutely relevant to it it’s problematic or not.
Thanks for the response - I imagine this applies to voting for Democrats all the way up to presidency in your mind - or do you see a difference in voting locally versus nationally?
The reason I ask is because it seems like when you support one nationally (like the president) it would seem to me to be an endorsement of their overall worldview of governing versus a local candidate may just be more pragmatic about an issue you like. Does that make sense?
