Reform will put British people first for social housing. That is the policy.

British-born workers under 35 go to the front of the queue. So do married couples who want children, veterans who served this country, victims of domestic violence and care leavers. Work comes before welfare. At least half of social homes will be reserved for young British workers. Foreign nationals will no longer be eligible.

1.3 million households are waiting for homes. We will build 50,000 affordable social homes a year; homes for British workers, British families, British veterans.

HOW DO WE PAY FOR IT? NO NEW TAXES
No extra tax. No extra borrowing. Right to Buy receipts go back into building. Housing associations invest more. A British sovereign wealth fund, built from reorganised local government pensions, backs the programme. Sell one home, build two. Britain pays its own way.

A young British worker should be able to leave home. A young British couple should be able to start a family. A veteran should not wait at the back of his own country’s queue.
