Veteran lawyer Paul Muite has criticised a proposal before the Senate that would remove the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission’s (IEBC) obligation to live stream polling station results, warning that the move could undermine transparency and public confidence ahead of the 2027 General Election. Writing on his X handle on Thursday, July 30, 2026, Muite has reacted after the Senate considered the Election Laws  (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which seeks to scrap the legal requirement for the IEBC to broadcast polling station results live as they are announced. The bill is jointly sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot and Senate Minority Leader Stewart Madzayo.

The Kiambu’s bus parks and other public spaces remained illuminated by our newly installed solar streetlights.
Kiambu County Government-Kenya has already installed 12,000 solar streetlights in the first phase, with another 12,000 set to be installed during this financial year.
