The top 0.1% paid $440 billion in federal income taxes.
The bottom 80% paid $350 billion.
Yes, the top 0.1% paid more than the entire bottom 80% COMBINED.
The tax code is already extremely progressive. Leftists know this. There’s almost nothing left to extract from income.
That’s why they’ve shifted the target from income to assets.
They now want to expropriate asset owners through property taxes and wealth taxes.
But even then, total confiscation would only fund the government for a few months, while destroying the productive capital that generates future wealth.
Essentially, they’re trading the future for a few short months of spending.
And no amount will ever satisfy them, because the real goal is to forbid wealth creation itself.
No one is allowed to rise above the lowest common denominator.
But the truth remains that the government already has more than enough revenue.
We have a spending problem, not a revenue problem.
@sorayatokyo Xenogears was the first jrpg I played from start to finish and the only game I use as a bench mark. I would have never started playing mecha games, jrpgs or, story based games... There is a long list of games I played because of xenogears and because of everyone who worked on it.
