It's almost my favourite time of the year - the Meadows Festival weekend (6-7 June)!
Music, stalls, performances, all in the Meadows, Edinburgh.🌳
I'll be back again with my tent, selling illustrated map prints, books, cards & more.
My first book, Summer of Independence, was published 10 years ago today. I've made a wee film to mark the occasion.🏴
Thanks so much to the publishers Word Power Books and to everyone who has supported my writing over the last 10 years.
Decades of cultural change are 'feeding directly into the independence debate' by rebuilding Scotland’s confidence in its own voice, historian and broadcaster Ally Heather has said
🗣️ 'I think for a long time folk haven't trusted themselves'
Thank you very much to the 300 people who have now subscribed to my email newsletter, Let Scotland Flourish!
I write about Scottish history & culture, Scotland's future, and my own creative projects.

If Scotland was never allowed any second referendums we wouldn’t even have a Scottish Parliament today. It was the second devolution referendum which succeeded, not the first. In a democracy people should be allowed to change course, and keep exercising their right to choose. 🏴
🏴 My latest newsletter is out today, all about the Scottish Parliament election results, the state of the independence question and where we go from here.
🌻 I have hope for the future and I hope you do too.

This afternoon Michelle O’Neill and I spoke with @RhunapIorwerth of Plaid Cymru and @JohnSwinney of the SNP on their historic election results. The demand for independence is growing. We look forward to working together in common cause. 🇮🇪🏴🏴
🎶Absolutely amazing scenes in Wales as Plaid Cymru leader Rhun ap Iorwerth - set to be Wales's first pro-independence first minister - is interrupted by an impromptu rendition of the Welsh national anthem
Congratulations, Scotland! It's the largest pro-independence majority in the history of the Scottish Parliament.
Independence parties are now leading in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland for the first time in history.
Another Scotland is possible. 🏴🌻
🚨 FINAL RESULT: The Welsh Senedd goes into no overall majority with Plaid Cymru as the largest party
🌼 PC: 43 (+20)
➡️ RFM: 34 (+34)
🔴 LAB: 9 (-35)
🔵 CON: 7 (-22)
🟢 GRN: 2 (+2)
🟠 LDM: 1 (+1)
96/96 seats
Scotlands constitutional question is so clearly not settled & until the realisation Westminster vetoing democracy in Scotland cannot continue, we will have this ludicrous scenario where politicians who lose elections here & those in another country somehow determine our future.
It’s incredible for Unionist parties to decry drops of turnout in elections when in large part it’s the blocking of Scottish democratic wishes that creates such apathy.
I've been doing a bit of a re-vamp on my newsletter this morning. It's now called Let Scotland Flourish!
It's where I write about Scottish history, culture, and the future, plus some of my own creative projects.
