USC is the sleeper team in the Big Ten.

The Trojans take down San Diego State 85-68 in exhibition play.

Rodney Rice: 23 PTS, 5-8 from three
Alijah Arenas: 22 PTS, 12 REB, 4 AST
15 steals, forcing 20 turnovers
USC shot 50% from the field, but 12-21 FT not great.
Don't sleep on the Trojans this season.

Creighton survives Minnesota 89-86 in double OT, but both teams have plenty to clean up.

Minnesota’s 20 turnovers and struggles at the free-throw line (13 of 28)

Creighton getting outrebounded 58-38 is equally concerning.

Good thing it’s an exhibition so they have time to work on it before the real thing.

Brad Underwood says "there's no setback" for David Mirkovic, but:

"We'll be without Mirk for a little while. They put him back in a boot. We're gonna be very patient and diligent with it. We want to make sure that it heals correctly and in a fashion that sustains for the year, and his career."

@EverythinKnicks @JimMaisano Only real concern with the Knicks so far is Mikal Bridges’ slow start.

It’s two games. Against Boston and Philadelphia, two formidable opponents.

There’s plenty of basketball left to play.

Illinois losing 95-91 to Baylor might be the LEAST concerning part of tonight.

Andrej Stojakovic, Zvonimir Ivisic, Tomislav Ivisic all hurt tonight and David Mirkovic was back in a walking boot.

It’s October. Health matters WAY more than exhibition results.

Baylor might be the biggest winner of the college basketball preseason.

Beat No. 1 Florida.
Beat No. 3 Illinois.

Scott Drew’s squad was picked 10th in the Big 12 preseason poll.

Exhibitions or not, the Bears are sending a message. Clearly not 10th.

@KyleTuckerCBB Wilkins might be the biggest X-factor for Kentucky this season. The talent is great, but the jump from the SoCon to the SEC won’t be easy. How quickly he adjusts could change Kentucky’s ceiling. Will be interesting to watch.

#illini David Mirkovic in a boot and a scooter.

We’ll ask Brad Underwood about him postgame.

Judge Jason Sengheiser has granted a temporary restraining order for Robbie Avila to play. As part of the relief, he has ruled the NCAA allow him to be rostered at SLU.

Curious to see where he ends up this late in the process. Really talented shooter.

Pikiell has given so much to the game and the Rutgers community.

Wishing Coach Pikiell nothing but strength, good health, and better days ahead.

@adamhhammer @ryanhammer09 I would say they could finish as high as 9th and their floor is 14th. They feel like a lot of middle ground P5 teams. Wide range of outcomes. Depends on chemistry and health and luck.
