@2140btc Elliptical can obviously be installed vertically ...but those precast manholes cannot naturally. I've never personally installed vertical, but it could theoretically occur if squeezing between existing vertical structures

For shallow manholes on a 43"x68" HERCP you can,:

1) have a sloppy cast in place mess
2) get a very large precast box base manhole
Or
3) a precast special pipe section.
