Given the Fed’s poor performance on price stability in recent years, FOMC incumbents should be open minded to evolving their views with the goal of improving performance. The “soft target" dismissal today was brilliant. Why again was the FOMC cutting rates in 2024 when inflation was above target? Unemployment averaged 4% in 2024.
