@nicoraytruth If Joseph Smith authored 2 Nephi 2, Alama 32, Alma 41- that would still compel me to listen to him. His theology and the BoM are endlessly intriguing. It would be impossible for me to dismiss it outright, even if historicity is a problem.
Per Alma 32; I have hope that it’s true
@stackerco This assumes everything in Deutero-Isaiah wasn’t composed until after 600 BC. What is in the the Book of Mormon is arguably less Deutero-ish (Cyrus prophecy isn’t mentioned), and it’s possible that the Brass Plates contained an earlier form of what later became Deutero-Isaiah.
@BookofMomma6 Order a used (or “refurbished”) one from ebay or Amazon, one or two generations old. Much better value. I would go for a model with the Sapphire glass, if you are worried about scratches at all.
Just make sure the battery health is good, 90%+.
@KintsugiJin@conservmillen I am just reiterating what he posted about it, that he was blindsided and potentially misled by the conversations that led up to the meeting. He said he felt good about his performance, regardless.
@benheck I don’t disagree… but for me personally I already have a consolized MVS and mostly want the AES for the aesthetics, but couldn’t justify $600+ for an original. For $250, I’ll keep it on the shelf and hope a cheaper flash cart comes out.
Plus the repros for $90 look ok.
@jkdavis89@Mormonger Jacob should have checked his source here… He could have made the same point without undermining his argument and credibility.
I agree with Jacob’s position, but I wish he was more prepared.
@SnazzyLabs Well said Quinn. One aspect of the faith that I have come to truly appreciate, as a convert, is the freedom it gives to try and follow the Second Great Commandment given by Jesus to love others, regardless of their personal identity or religious affiliation.
Happy Easter.
@NathanielGivens I made a similar comment to the one you are responding to, and I am sorry if it was in a similarly deriding manner (that was not my intent.)
I enjoy your posts and your deep-thinking about the scriptures, so I decided to check out your book. Thanks for your work.
@NathanielGivens This seems to get the cause/effect backwards. The cause of the harmony was the conversion of the Lamanites, which allowed for fellowship and peace.
@John_Stone_@MattTestifies The post is implying that revelation was meant to continue and guide the church. The apostasy occurred in part because of the Catholic Church’s rejection of it.
@GrandpaJoeSux This is against current Church doctrine (are current leaders wrong?) and undoubtedly hurtful to Members of color.
Let’s not forget Elijah Abel (who thanklessly served three missions) and Walker Lewis who were both ordained to the Priesthood either by Joseph, or during his life.
