🚨 Roberto Martínez on people saying Cristiano Ronaldo is chasing Lionel Messi after his brace against Uzbekistan at the 2026 FIFA World Cup:
🗣️ “I always find it strange when people say Cristiano Ronaldo is chasing Lionel Messi. We are talking about a player who has spent almost twenty years setting records, breaking barriers and redefining what longevity looks like in football.”
“First of all, Messi is having an outstanding World Cup and deserves every bit of praise coming his way. But football is bigger than one tournament, and greatness is measured across an entire career.”
“When you look at Cristiano’s journey, you see records for goals, international football, appearances, longevity and consistency at the highest level. His legacy was built over decades, not weeks.”
“Cristiano has never focused on competing with other players. His mentality has always been about improving himself, helping his team and pushing the limits of what people think is possible.”
“The reality is that players come and go, generations change, but Cristiano Ronaldo’s name continues to be part of every major conversation in football. That doesn’t happen by accident.”
“So when people say Ronaldo is chasing Messi, I don’t agree with that. Cristiano is following his own path, just as he always has.”
“And if we’re being honest, Ronaldo isn’t chasing anyone. If anything, Messi is chasing Ronaldo, and many of the records in football are still chasing Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Do you know that English teams have played 11 Champions League finals where they scored first, and they went on to win 9 of them? The only two times they lost were Arsenal in 2006 and 2026. 😂😭🏆❌
“People are starting to go into hiding mode”
He’s scored 13, yes just thirteen Premier League goals in the last 2 seasons combined.
If anyone needs to come out of hiding it’s you 😂😂😂😂
Ederson has verbally agreed a five-year contract at Manchester United, while club-to-club talks are advancing.
#MUFC also keen on Mateus Fernandes and Aurélien Tchouaméni. Both names high in their thinking.
Elliot Anderson remains the dream (and top) target yet #MCFC optimistic of agreeing terms with the Nottingham Forest midfielder.
Sandro Tonali cost would need to drop for Manchester United to move up him their list, while Carlos Baleba and Alex Scott are other options. However, Bournemouth are in a strong position with Europe to agree a new deal with Scott.
Joao Gomes not on the list currently, despite being considered in January. Wolves midfielder expected to complete a move to Atletico Madrid in the coming days, as revealed on @talkSPORT.
Manchester United will sign at least two new midfielders.🔴
Roy Keane on Jordan Henderson 6 years ago...
“I’ve heard people say they want him around the place - for what? Does he do card tricks? Does he have a sing song? Does he do quizzes in the evenings?”
We’re all thinking the same 😂😂😂
Nine years on from the tragic events of the Manchester Arena bombing, we remember the 22 innocent lives that were lost on that awful night.
They will never be forgotten.

There are places we pass through in life… and there are places that become part of who we are.
Manchester will forever be my home.
To the city, the club, and every supporter, my sincerest thank you. These past four years have been unforgettable, filled with moments my family and I will carry with us for the rest of our lives. There simply aren’t enough words to describe the happiness and warmth we’ve felt here.
Thank you for every cheer, every memory, and for making us feel at home from the very first day.
Forever a Red Devil ❤️
Margaret and I had a lovely walk through Blackheath yesterday. Lovely middle class area. Popped in on our old friends Simon and Linda. He used to be a bus driver. She used to be a receptionist. Beautiful four bed on this street. Bought it in 1978 for £19,000.
We sent our grandson Alfie this photo. He's a doctor. Surely he can afford a house here. He sent back a screenshot of his bank account. £43. I said love our mortgage was £84 a month. You're halfway there. 🇬🇧
Our little home. Bought in 1982 for £28,000. Just a modest family home in Surrey with a bit of a garden. I remember picking up extra shifts at the post office that summer to save for the deposit. We were so young. Apparently it's worth £1.5 million now but to us it's just home. 🏡
