‘Your first World Cup is like your childhood Christmases. You’ll spend the rest of your life chasing the way it made you feel – but you’ll never experience it again. If you’re 11, you’re about to watch the best World Cup you will ever see.’

New Welsh Cabinet is interesting. Its not just personnel that’ll determine success; relationships between individuals & departments are vital too. Delivery often relies on actions in other bits of the WG forest so the paths cut between will be important https://t.co/yLyJItzb2p
Interesting data from James Griffiths via @WalesGovernance on the additional votes needed by each main party to have won have an extra seat in the recent Senedd election.

Things I’d like to see phased out this Senedd term:
Those strange photos of new Welsh Ministers standing awkwardly next to judges in wigs.
I don’t need that kind of reassurance.
There’s always need for discipline and coherence, but in a way it’s a shame we can’t keep a bit more of that relaxed flow once the election has finished.
It might resonate a bit more with the public. (2/2)
There’s a period - a few hours after election polls close until a few days later - where those giving political interviews can hit a much better pitch. Not all interviewees by any means, but you hear more reflection and more openness than is usually the case. (1/2)
Good luck to @KenSkatesMS as he begins as interim leader of @WelshLabour
‘Tough’ doesn’t in any way do justice to whats ahead, but he’ll bring his usual energy & ideas to the role and a collaborative style that will be much needed as the party plots the way forward
Pob lwc, Ken
They picked the wrong hosts for this draw.
It needed a stronger hand on the tiller to keep Shaq in check.
They should have got Arfon Haines-Davies.

Really sad to hear about Robin Smith.
It was often very bleak watching England in the 90s, but his tenacity, his energy and his determination - particularly against a pace attack - always made him exciting to watch.

Ted Heath, Jack Jones, Arthur Schlesinger, Ralf Dahrendorf and Shirley Williams all pop to JK Galbraith’s house in Vermont for the weekend.
