Thank you to Dr. Johnson for giving us an inside look at her responsibilities as our Lower School head. She is a real community helper, cheerleader, supporter, teacher and friend to us all! #SJESDALLAS
Thank you to Nicholas from The Wildlife Command Center who visited K today. We heard how bats are removed from an attic (think of a bat door that only opens in one direction-OUT), how bats drink water (fascinating!), the laws protecting bats, and a whole lot more! #SJESDALLAS
A great author study with Mrs. Powers today! Mo Willems is always a favorite! It was great learning about him, hearing some wonderful stories and discovering how to draw THE PIGEON! #SJESDALLAS
The votes are in! After studying the habitats and characteristics of nine different bats (most found in North America), the “Flying Fox” was determined the class favorite. The “adorable factor” just couldn’t be denied! #SJESDALLAS
Kindergarten Codes! Learning the importance of a code’s sequence and commands in the midst of play and movement. This is when learning really sticks! #sjesdallas
Happy International Dot Day! Thanks to #Mrs_A1stGrade and the first grade for inspiring us to think creatively and to consider how we can “make our mark.” #SJESDALLAS
During Mindful Moment, we experimented (in silence) with our breath to see how it might affect a bubble’s size. Rules: no chasing and no popping. Focus and control to the max! #SJESDALLAS
Our first visit to the new Makers’ Space was a hit! Students faced the challenge of designing a bridge strong enough for the Three Billy Goats Gruff to cross. Let’s just say there were a lot of goats full of fresh green grass by the end of class! #SJESDALLAS
