This past week has been truly revealing. What General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi warned us about on 6 July is unfolding exactly as he described, and the bigger picture is now coming into sharp focus .In 2012, Generals Mkhwanazi, Fannie Masemola, and Dumisani Khumalo were removed from key positions while actively fighting organised crime. Today they are back, facing challenges that go far beyond ordinary policing. You can never keep a good man down.This week, IDAC was thoroughly exposed for who they truly are: corrupt racists who are fighting the very people who are against crime, like General Khumalo and others.

We now know that IDAC was plotting all of this with General Khan. So it was true IDAC was indeed being used by General Khan.Exactly as General Mkhwanazi stated, they cooked up a case against General Khumalo based on HR matters that had nothing to do with IDAC’s core mandate of investigating State Capture. Yet IDAC has not secured even a single successful conviction in court since the State Capture report.We also witnessed the dramatic end of the “marriage” between Cat Matlala and IDAC. Advocate van der Heerven openly distanced herself from what she described as a dodgy deal between her client and IDAC, and confirmed she would furnish the Commission with the full details.Meanwhile, Cat Matlala was brought before the Commission by the very same team that arrested him, led by Colonel Khumalo of the PKTT. Even the Minister of Justice has now made public statements about IDAC based on the evidence emerging from the Commission.The dots are connecting perfectly.

Now we are waiting for Tuesday, when Advocate Andrea Johnson is expected to appear before the Commission. We know she is going to be asked about the Khan WhatsApp chats, and I’m sure her name will come out from the downloads.Those who were screaming, “Where is the evidence that the judiciary is captured?” are now quiet. We have learned that former NPA boss Advocate Potohi and Johnson have been protecting General Khan and God knows what else they have been doing. But thanks to Advocate Matthew Chaskalson, even what they thought was hidden has now been exposed. He has it all, the suspended Minister of Police denying knowing Cat and Brown Mogotsi, and more is still to be revealed about why, right after Cat was visited by the PKTT, the Minister suddenly disbanded the unit and instructed that the dockets be transferred to General Sibiya.

The work of the Generals and the Madlanga Commission is progressing exactly as planned. I can confidently say that around 85% of what General Mkhwanazi revealed has already been validated by the testimony and evidence before the Commission. As South Africans, we should be proud. When the Generals spoke, the people rose and stood firm, refusing to be swayed by propaganda and fake news. This is bigger than three generals. It’s about restoring the integrity of our institutions and ensuring no one is above the law.
