An 81-year-old farmer, Hendrik Venter from Kuruman, was found murdered on Friday morning near the gate of a neighboring farm. He had three deep stab wounds to his head. Venter left his residence in Kameelaar around 8:30 AM to visit one of his other farms. His body was discovered around 9:45 AM by a nearby farmer, alongside his vehicle, and an undisclosed amount of money was reportedly missing.

According to Niekie Kruger, the farmer who discovered Venter's body, Venter was a well-known and respected figure in the community, recognized as the largest farmer in the district.

A large-scale search was launched, involving various @SAPoliceService units, including the canine unit, highway patrol, crime intelligence, and local police.

Five suspects were arrested, and they are expected to appear in the Kuruman Magistrate's Court soon.

The murder weapon has not yet been found, but it is suspected that Venter was struck with a sharp object like an axe or panga.
