Russia does not want to end the war, and the Trump administration has shown no ability to induce Russia to end the war. And so, predictably, the Trump administration blames the victim, blames Ukraine.
There is an aggressor: Russia.
There is a victim: Ukraine.
We were right to help Ukraine and sanction Russia three years ago—and to keep doing so.
By “we,” I mean the Americans, the Europeans, the Canadians, the Japanese, and many others.
Thank you to all who have helped and continue to do so. And respect to those who have been fighting since the beginning—because they are fighting for their dignity, their independence, their children, and the security of Europe.
Trump and Vance act as if the problem is that Ukraine is resisting an ongoing Russian invasion. The problem is the ongoing Russian invasion. If they want to use American power to stop the war, apply it to the aggressor. Abusing the victim is not going to end a war of aggression.
Today, as the people of Ukraine mark their Independence Day, let it be clear:
When Russia’s senseless war began, Ukraine was a free country.
Today, it is still a free country.
And the war will end with Ukraine remaining a free, sovereign, and independent country.
Europe will always be at Ukraine’s side, because Ukraine is Europe.
Your freedom is our freedom.
Your security is our security.
We've been standing with you since day one. And we'll continue to do so, for as long as it takes.
I'm wishing our friends a proud Independence Day.
On Ukraine’s Independence Day, we join in celebrating the shared values that the Ukrainian people are bravely defending every single day: independence, sovereignty, and freedom.
We will continue to stand with Ukraine in its fight for freedom against Russia’s aggression.
In today's #vatniksoup, I'll introduce a South African-American(!) businessman and social media figure, Elon Musk (@elonmusk). He's best-known for being the wealthiest man in the world, running Tesla Inc., SpaceX & Twitter, and for parroting Kremlin's propaganda narratives.

My sons - Danylo and Stefan - are sleeping in the corridor during night air raids in Kyiv. I will tell them to be “strategically patient” when arrive home tomorrow after Vilnius NATO Summit.
To the disgrace that is the presence of the #Russian delegation of sanctioned war criminals at the @oscepa, I can only repeat what #Ukrainian border guards so eloquently put nearly a year ago when addressing a particular Russian warship. #OSCEPA#OSCE
Russia’s war in Ukraine is a result of a centuries-old dangerous mainstream ideology of Russian chauvinism, and of the oppression this ideology has produced. Let’s take a look at the cultural dimension of this oppression through the lens of Russia’s stereotyping of Ukrainians🧵

Well, not surprised that journalists found the link between Gazprombank and the Russian army - Kremlin is simply using it to pay their soldiers. They don't even transfer it to a different bank, so Europe is directly paying for the invasion of Ukraine, not even metaphorically
Russian soldiers film and publish videos of how they mutilate genitals and then shoot a Ukrainian POW in the head. How is this different from ISIS videos where they slaughtered people in front of the camera? Russia is a terrorist state and must be designated as such
Mother of Liza, who died today during the Russian attack on #Vinnytsia, called her “angel”. There are lots of texts of her describing how special Liza was. It’s unbearable.
@OKraiev@nytimes In many years from now we'll all learn eventually how many undercover Russia's agents and assets worked at @nytimes but I hope it's just a couple of gullible journalists that romanticize Russian empire
