Can’t remember all the aspects of...well, ASPECTS?
Need a stroke of genius to recall this stroke score?
This month’s @theAJNR SCANtastic is all about ASPECTS!!
https://t.co/rhuYYPUCbA
Knowing which regions to count is a very important aspect of ASPECTS!
Here's how you can do it!
Just remember BIG BOW TIES!
The MCA territory looks like a bow tie in shape & that’s how you can remember the regions of the ASPECTS score
B = Basal ganglia (caudate, internal capsule, lentiform nucleus)
I = Insula
G = Gap (sylvian fissure)
B = Broca’s (M1)
O = Operculum (M2)
W = Wernicke’s (M3)
TI = Top of Inferior frontal gyrus (M4)
E = Eloquent (M5, contains motor strip)
S = Supramarginal gyrus (M6)
This month’s @the_AJNR found that addition of an AI algorithm helped radiologists to be more accurate & faster at determining the ASPECTS! Check it out for yourself: https://t.co/rhuYYPUCbA
So now all you have to do is remember BIG BOW TIE to remember the regions of the ASPECTS score. Hopefully, you will never get tied up trying to remember these regions again!
1/Do you know all the aspects of, well, ASPECTS?
Many know the anterior circulation stroke scoring system—but posterior circulation (pc) ASPECTS is often left behind
25% of infarcts are posterior circulation
Do you know pc-ASPECTS?!
Here’s how to remember pc-ASPECTS!
