@7Doctrinaire@EgoAomine They never once even implied there was only one way to look confident. They were addressing the same face complain. On top of demonstrating how Shion n Anran were different. Just saying you were also talking faces doesnt meaningfully say anything about their response.
It’s sorta crazy how different online discourse over new Overwatch hero’s is now vs say 3+ years ago
Before it was all about how are they going to play? Do they look fun? Hitscan or projectile? Do they have CC? Etc
Now it’s just argue about the looks or skins
The more i look at this art, the more i realize what they actually did there. Genji is literally a full cyborg losing any sign of his human features. Shion is an omnic who modified her face to resemble humans. In Japanese Yakuza and irezumi culture tiger (Shion) and dragon (Genji) represent balance. The harmony of opposing forces, yin (Genji) and yang (Shion.)
I think going with a futuristic Japan theme will. Be the best thing that will happen to Overwatch like ever. There is sooo many things i want to know about it and i already want Cyberpunk collab 🩷
@7Doctrinaire@EgoAomine Incapable of recognizing how your reply doesn't actually engage with the thread. Or deliberately obtuse to avoid having to acknowledge how wrong you are.
@EgoAomine@popsockettie That's most criticism from the OverWatch community. Mindlessly string together words that come across as far more insightful. Letting out phrases like conventionally attractive or accusing her of having a soft face. Criticizing that she doesn't look extremely robotic for Omnic.-
This is me taking my victory lap over the haters. Y’all are sorry as fuck 😭
Omnic design‼️
Same robotic arms as Zenyatta, omnic symbol on her forehead, additional robotic details
Ambient and creative gameplay
- Adding another duel wielder
- A motorbike
- Nice visuals on her blink
Welcome home Shion
@_Mesura@EgoAomine Complaining about how she doesn't overtly look like an omnic. Well completely ignoring that there is a clear narrative reason woven into her aesthetic choices. Sad.
When you’re too stupid to realize this is how character design works:
For this example you chose Shion and Anran. Two characters who present themselves as fierce, strong, and capable
- Their eyes are nearly identical because sharper eye shapes are a standard design tool used to communicate confidence, intensity, and strength
- Their stronger brows help reinforce that same sense of competence and authority
- Their more defined jawlines aren’t some accident; they’re there because sharper facial structure is commonly used to make a character look more formidable and self-assured
- Hell to even add to it their nose bridges are more defined and outlined, which adds structure to the face and helps create a more mature, serious, and commanding appearance
You understand why you couldn’t use Juno as an example?
Because Juno’s facial structure is supposed to make her look cute, approachable, and youthful
- Softer cheeks
- Rounder eyes
- Less emphasis of the bridge of her nose
Different visual goals require different facial features
You’re criticizing the design without understanding the purpose of the design choices. Sharper eyes, stronger brows, and more defined jawlines are standard visual tools used to communicate strength, confidence, and competence. That’s why these two characters share those traits.
How are you gonna attempt to critique something when you DON’T EVEN UNDERSTAND what you’re criticizing?
