Pending legislation has far to go, but encourage those who are trying. Here's a framework to consider for the good of NH. Opinion: How to address school funding needs https://t.co/4lhGRy5Ak4
Time for a break from Twitter. I plan to be dormant for a while and won't monitor this account. There's simply too much drama/destruction on Twitter. We'll see who buys the platform out of bankruptcy.
Trump Special Master Overturned by 11th Circuit. No special rules for former presidents (or anyone else).
"The law is clear." Time for J. Aileen Cannon to put up her judicial robe on CraigsList. Maybe then she can salvage something of her career as a judge.
Rand School Funding Update--Argued injunction before J. Ruoff Monday. He read all pleadings and asked probing questions. Not much more can be asked of judge. Trial either 9-25-23 or 10-2-23. Most smirk-worthy quote: Wealthy Towns Atty claims Claremont rulings are "unclear."
A quality public education is foundational to democracy & supporting education is an affirmative duty placed on NH legislators. Taxes being fair and uniform is an age-old constitutional concept. Nov. 28th, we appear before a new judge to argue both points in the Rand case.
NH Rand School Funding Suit update. We moved to enjoin the practice of discounting state taxes for wealthy communities. Wealthy communities then joined State's objection causing judge to remove himself bc he lives in wealthy community. Case transferred to Judge Ruoff.
Good summary of our injunction motion to discontinue the parts of the SWEPT that allow property owners in wealthiest communities to avoid paying any statewide education tax or to pay at a discounted rate. Ruling in the next few weeks. https://t.co/Kl0LNWKjr0
Seeing well-intended friends recommend voting for Const'l Convention. NO, NO, NO! Would open up the entire Constitution and too many right-wingers would bring us back to a time before Brown. There are other ways to protect repro rights. #VoteNoOnBallotQues2#NHPolitics
Support our good friend, June Trisciani, who is running for the NH Senate in the district that covers part of Manchester, Hooksett, Goffstown, Candia, and Raymond. This would be a huge pick-up and if anyone can do it, June can. @JuneTrisciani@actblue https://t.co/AjVMVbxZen
Your vote at risk. Understand the previously rejected "independent state legislature" theory to be considered by US Supreme Court, a political body, in the Moore case this fall. https://t.co/NwemDwJCTC @BrennanCenter
Thanks but this is a group effort with Natalie Laflamme, John Tobin, Doug Hall, the Ed Law Ctr, and White and Case. We just moved to enjoin (prevent the use of) SWEPT because the wealthiest communities pay lower taxes when the NH Const. says taxes must have a uniform rate.
Use the bully pulpit, Mr. President. Challenge the Supreme Court's versions of history and of present day America. Champion legislation by @rokhanna & ethics for justices who should recuse themselves and accurately disclose their finances. https://t.co/Iltgo8XNhN
A Supreme Court code of ethics is an absolute no-brainer. Since the justices won’t address the problem, here’s a solution: Congress can pass my Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act. It’s clearly time.
