Acadeafic recently turned one year old! 🎂 Want to know what our top 3 most viewed posts were the last year? Each of these posts had several thousand views. Drumroll... 🥁🥁
Last day of #volunteers week so a big a Thank You to the group of volunteers who run our regions and don’t always get the credit they deserve.
They coordinate dates, hire rooms, book speakers & trainers and sort out finances. Many regions are now run by teams who share the load.
ASLI, in collaboration with @royaldeaf , @SignHealth & @bsmhdeaf, is producing guidelines for working in medical settings during the #Coronavirus pandemic. Documents will be available for interpreters as well as for healthcare organisations booking communication professionals.1/2
Racism became prevalent because it was required to justify slavery, and the theft of land, labour and resources by colonialism.
Today it assists voter suppression, economic and civic exclusion, real estate grabs and mass incarceration.
It has always driven by power and greed.
This #VolunteersWeek2020 we’d like to thank all our regional teams, our webmaster, consultation day coordinator, our champion of newly qualified and students, all those who run events for us, all volunteer #SLI#SLT , writers, campaigners and everyone who gets involved! #ThankYou
What a great morning with student members of ASLI - thank you everyone for your contributions and looking forward to next time! Thanks to @paulbelmontesli and Caron Wolfenden for your valuable support and insights
Proud of our association @ASLIuk being involved from almost the very beginning of this impressive, grassroots groundswell of a campaign. Looking at this poster though, shows up an obvious, glaring omission eh?
In this new post, @mdemeulder and @AndyCar70 discuss the benefits of seeing a transcript of a signed to spoken language interpretation, based on their working together at the WFD 2019 World Congress in Paris. https://t.co/L8fIzXCzYB
Shame on @ActionOnHearing for taking credit for others’ hard work. The grassroots campaign #WhereIsTheInterpreter has been growing in strength despite being betrayed like this and also let down by certain other representative organisations toadying up to the Tories!
Please look at this thread..frustrating that @jerseysnail has run a brilliant campaign and @ActionOnHearing say they are working with the Deaf Community #WhereIsTheInterpreter has thousands of followers. No Collab. Claiming credit 🤦🏻♀️
.@oliverpouliot and I are working on the second wave of the #1intSL survey which will launch next Wednesday 15 April. The top 3 participating countries in the first survey were USA, UK and the Netherlands. Stay tuned! And stay safe.
