Just a reminder that kids need unconditional positive regard -- especially right now. That doesn't mean you accept poor behavior -- it means you see them as inherently human when they make a mistake, recognize they're doing the best they can & never withhold warmth or affection.
Wanted to share these photos from my childhood house to show the reality of many households after hurricane Ida but more so to REMIND you how much more important the relationships you have with your family, friends, and loved ones are than your next car, new watch, or new tv.
Kindness matters.
But kindness does not = justice.
Civility counts.
But calling for civility is not the humane response to injustice.
Justice is.
Love is essential.
But love is not a passive, weeping bystander.
Love puts in the work.
Two seemingly contradictory currents mark our society
1. There is a denunciation of all claims of absolute truth
2. Yet there is also a fanaticism in which one position or group is absolutely right, nothing is ambiguous, and divergent views should be destroyed
