Every vendor demo shows the LLM "reasoning."
In production, reasoning is the part that breaks.
The LLM is an orchestrator, not a reasoner. Build accordingly or build twice.
@jawwwn_ Depending on the work the agent is doing it could need more than semantic context but other software scaffolding like state management. AI-assisted coding is making building this software scaffolding much faster. So use AI to build the scaffolding to make your agents valuable.
Everyone obsesses over the LLM. But for a true enterprise agent, the model is just a small part of the system.
To go from "demo" to "production," you need the boring stuff:
- Semantic Layer (Business Rules)
- State Management (Memory)
- Validation & Guardrails (Safety)
Your AI pilot worked. Your rollout didn’t.
Here’s why: You built a demo (LLM + prompt) not an agent (7 integrated layers).
Missing a semantic layer? It doesn’t understand your business. No state management? It forgets mid-workflow.
No validation? Hallucinations hit production.
The silent shift: AI isn't replacing entire jobs yet (despite the headlines). It’s augmenting the top 10% of performers, making them much more productive. The performance gap is widening, not the unemployment line. That’s the real industry story. #AIStrategy#TechTrends
The real AI race isn't about which LLM is 'the best' in general, it's about who builds the best proprietary layer for specialized domains (finance, medicine, law). Vertical AI is the next gold rush.

87% of ML models never make it into production. LLMs can sound smart, but aren’t precise enough for real business decisions.
The debate between “ML vs. LLMs” misses the point. The answer is: you need both.

@CharlieMarlow_@StubHub That feels like it should be illegal. Buying a product at one price point only to have the vendor say sorry we don’t have that but here is a cheaper version at no additional cost!!!!
@DougVaughn_KMOV as a big believer in power rankings what’s your take the Cardinals blasting from 23rd to 15th in ESPN’s latest version? Is this tied to series wins?
@dgoold Unpopular opinion: I find this year’s Cardinals fun to watch. And we enjoy going to games and have not experienced crime. I am not dismissing it at all just sharing our experience.
