St Mary’s Produce Dominant Display to Start Their 2025 NI Under-16 Cup Run ⚽🔥
Fifteen boys from Years 11 and 12 travelled to Maghera to face St Conor’s College in the preliminary round of this year’s Under-16 NI Cup. St Mary’s burst out of the blocks with a goal in the opening minutes — a rasping shot from outside the box by Dara Donnan.
The lead was doubled by another long-range drive from Donnan, and quickly extended by Tomas O’Kane. Dara completed his hat-trick with a third 25-yard strike that gave the keeper no chance. Lorcan Small added a fifth just before the half-time break.
St Mary’s continued their fine form in the second half, adding further goals through Don Muldoon, Thomas Kelly, and Ethan Mulligan. The game was played in great spirits — many thanks to St Conor’s for hosting and providing a fantastic opening fixture.
Final Score:
St Conor’s College 0 – St Mary’s Magherafelt 8
Scorers: Donnan (3), O’Kane, Small, Muldoon, Kelly, Mulligan
A massive congratulations to the year 10 boys soccer team, who won the NEBSSA 5-aside tournament at Meadowbank last week. SMG entered 2 teams to the event, which hosted a total of 24 teams across the region. Despite a tough group, the B team performed well, only narrowly losing out on progressing through their group. The A team were impeccable throughout, scoring 22 goals and conceding just one across the entire competition. Special thanks to their coach, Mr Mobbs, who guided them to victory. Well done boys!

This Is Brilliant, I don’t think you would see this today.
Two legends of the game Malcolm Allison and Alan Mullery hammer each other with personal insults, with Jimmy Hill in the middle.
