Next stop, Westcombe Park RFC. Pleased to say I’m now part of the coaching team and will take charge of the Tiger’s on match days and looking to develop players to step up into the 1st team.
Big thanks to David Marshall for reaching out and having faith to appoint me.
So last week saw the end of my coaching journey with Vigo RFC, where there are some great people who made me very welcome throughout my time there. Learned some valuable lessons and found away to play with the players we had finishing a creditable 7th in Kent Counties 2 (level 8)
At the start of the season we had 10, 1st Team players unavailable which didn’t change much so to finish in the same position as the previous season was credit to the players stepping up from 2nd team rugby and all scrapping hard in every game.
@BladeoftheS@russellearnshaw Privatization had started in 1977 when the Labor government of James Callaghan sold a 32% stake as part of the conditions of the country's IMF bailout. Under Margaret Thatcher's watch the remaining stake was sold, with two big sales in 1979 and 1987.
Vigo RFC are looking for players for their 2’s social team (no need to train unless you want to or are aspiring to play 1’s in the Counties Kent league (tier 8)A great club with a friendly atmosphere, check the website for details on how to join or message me for details.
A new chapter in my coaching journey starts next month when I take over as Head Coach at Vigo RFC. This is a vibrant community club where I have already been made welcome and I look forward to working with the players and members through the coming season. Excited.
@SamLStandsUp Ive been preaching this for a number of years now, the problem comes when trying to convince players that its ok to make these decisions in the moment come game time. They can often do it in training but revert to calling which option to use in the game. Or reverting to old moves
@pollybarnes_ Simply not rugby people, if they were they would understand that this is not acceptable behaviour towards a ref and particularly not towards their family. Refs at every level do the best the can and without them there would be no game. Do your best to ignore these idiots.
Tonight saw the end of my journey with Dartfordians RFC. After a heavy loss to the league leaders Horsham at the weekend the head coach was asked to step down and as part of the three man coaching team I felt I should do like wise to leave the way clear for a new coaching setup
@therugbytrainer When tackling/contact is introduced at u9’s plus the girls separated out is when you see a lot of dropouts from the sport. Keeping mixed tag sessions at this age and higher would definitely keep players in the game who can decide when/if they want to transition to contact.
The by-product will be athletes who enjoy what they do, wake up excited in the morning to go to work, are deeply aware of their privilege, and embrace pressure as an opportunity rather than a threat.
