On holiday in Caithness and stopped by the Wick Heritage museum. Some fascinating exhibits in there but I especially liked the Ganseys. If @dieworkwear is ever on holiday in the North of Scotland he should stop by!
The museum is right next door to the site of a memorial to the first daylight bombing raid of WW2 to hit the UK mainland. 11 were killed in the strike on 1 July 1940 including 8 children.
Genuinely fascinating set of photos from Glen Feshie today showing the various avalanches set off by collapsing cornices during the thaw. Clearly not an isolated case judging by a lack of trees in the chutes. Lovely fanning as well.

@theiaincameron Fingers crossed they learn from this (and pass on that learning to people they know) and can have some awesome adventures in the mountains in the future
@theiaincameron See also "they should close off the mountains during winter". It must be frustrating to head out for the really avoidable incidents, but surely preferable to a recovery mission because someone was worried about a bill
Love it, need to brush up on my clothing for my bike rides. I've been planning a cross-cairngorm ride through a different glen. Don't think I'll have as much style as Jim but my bike is probably more likely to survive!
If you want to dress well this fall, imagine yourself as Big Jim Collie, a Scottish crofter in the 1970s who lived alone in a bothy and rode a rickety old bicycle through the Lairig Ghru, the highest mountain pass in the highest mountain range in Britain.
Dishwasher loading... Everyone has their preferences, each to their own, good natures banter, etc. However. This is getting close to being a war crime.
It's been enlightening seeing Jim pull this together over the months. A reminder that real journalism takes persistence and time. And money. Worth it for readers, I hope.
#DAFC is delighted to reveal our third kit for season 2025/26.
The Pars, to this day, run out to 'Into The Valley' by the Skids, and our third kit pays the ultimate homage to one of the greatest bands to come out of Dunfermline.

@DavidsonMagnus You're forgetting the Beauly-Denny power line effect, destroying the tourism draw of the Highlands 😉
(Just imagine the campervan numbers if that hadn't gone up!)
@martin_gillie@BlackIslePMD @dfgillie Should have been more specific.... That was for @martin_gillie @dfgillie
Peter, maybe if it's dry and I'm feeling very energetic!
@martin_gillie@BlackIslePMD @dfgillie I should be able to drop some off by bike tomorrow morning if that suits (if you're out I can leave them at the door)
